We are thinking about buying a professionally built
Samson 52ft motor sailor ketch & use it for some cruising.
Friends of ours who are better qualified than us have suggested
that it is more at home on the motor than sailing & would
be potentially an expensive proposition (they are NOT anti-ferroboats).
How can we research the capabilities of the design? We are relatively
inexperienced at this stage in cruising & in ferroboats.,David

Hi David, I think you will find that she is an auxilliary
sailing ketch not a motor-sailer, so your friends are incorrect
in that context. The Samson range of similar designs I have found
to be good ocean cruising vessels.
